Q: What is this site?

A: Decent Links Directory is a free general web directory that was started in September of 2008, and has been running strong ever since. A web directory is a place on the world wide web that specializes in accepting links from other websites, and attempting to categorize them according to their intended purpose and content.

Q: How does the service work?

A: Whether you are the owner of a website you wish to include, or just know a good link, it all starts with our Submission Page. Located on that page is a small form that will ask you about the site you wish to submit for inclusion within the directory. Just fill out the form, and our system will send you a notification letting you know that we have received your submission, and that it will be scheduled for human review. If we think the website meets our criteria for acceptance, then it will start appearing in our directory within a couple days.

Q: Why should I submit to your directory? What are the advantages?

A: There are many advantages for submitting a website to our directory. If you are a visitor who just simply knows of a good website, then you would be sharing that website with others, and allowing them to enjoy that site's respective content and features. If you are a webmaster, then we need not explain the value of the added promotion a listing can provide. We are strong believers in providing valuable services for all of our listings, and sharing with the internet community the worth that each website possesses.

Q: Does the submission with Decent Links Directory expire?

A: Your listing with our directory will never expire. The only time a listing will be removed from the directory is when it no longer meets our criteria for inclusion. Since we are a family friendly web directory, our criteria is in place to ensure that websites listed will adhere and maintain a standard that would be consistent in such a directory. This pretty much means that as long as your website doesn't promote hate speech, drugs, violence, or any other no-no's mentioned in our TOS, your listing will be just fine.

Featured Listings, however, will expire one year from the date of inclusion. At this time the individual who submitted the listing will be contacted and asked if they wish to keep the listing as a Featured Link. If no contact is possible, or if the individual doesn't wish to keep the Featured status, then the listing will revert back to a basic listing, and treated as such.

Q: I don't see my listing in the directory. Where is it?

A:There are several possibilities that can explain this. The first is that the listing is in our pending queue, and has yet to be reviewed. Due to the fact that we are a free directory, we receive several hundred submissions per week. While we make every effort to approve quality websites in a timely manner, it CAN take upwards towards 2 weeks or more to approve your listing for inclusion. Featured listings, however, are reviewed within 24 hours of submission, and will appear in our directory shortly thereafter.

Another possible reason you may not see your listing is that it did not meet our criteria for inclusion. We do invite you to contact us to see why it was not included, and then feel free to resubmit the listing. We will be happy to give you a status at that time.
